Social Events

Introduction

The WorldMUN spirit is about setting up bridges among cultures, countries and people. Making connections between people and ideas represents the best way to understand and comprehend each other.

During the conference, delegates will debate and get related through the UN procedure, but the best opportunity to make a personal link beyond the debate, are the social events.
For WorldMUN 2008 we have planned events that reflect the beauty and tradition of our city; the history and color of our country, and the essence of Latin America, mixed with the lights and powerful sounds of international music. The uniqueness of Mexico, expressed in every single event, will change the meaning of celebration for all delegates.

We’ll start on Monday evening enjoying the nice weather of springtime while tasting various of the most famous and delicious dishes of the poblano kitchen, hand in hand with the world cultural carnival that represents the emblematic Global Village.

On Tuesday, delegates will have the opportunity to live the experience of a real Mexican party spiced with worldwide tunes and fantastic performances, where they’ll show their cowboy skills riding a mechanical bull.

Wednesday night will be Cabaret Night, and there’s no better place where delegates will show their talents in a scenario located in one of the most exclusive halls.

On Thursday, participants will have the opportunity to go back in time and live a party on a prehispanic scenerio recreation, where costumes and music of the Aztec nobility will be enjoyed by all the delegates in an elegant hacienda.

Finally, on Friday night we’ll all live most of our fantasies during the Carnaval party at the astonishing main hall of La Vista Country club. There we’ll all have the chance to learn dancing Latin rhythms with professional dancers and free congas.

Global Village

One of the WorldMUN icons is the global village. Right after the opening ceremony at the amazing Complejo Cultural Siglo XXI, delegates will go out to the main esplanade where everything will be set up for the delegation stands.

Most of all, the global village is the event where all delegates have the chance to interact with each other and to have a first taste of what the WorldMUN spirit really means. The astonishing experience of walking trough halls where dozens of languages are spoken, different national costumes are worn and tryouts of many countries typical food and drinks are offered, needs to be held in an unique place.

For WorldMUN’s 2008 Global Village, we have chosen the monumental esplanade of the Complejo. It is one of the most modern buildings of it’s kind in Latin America and it offers total safety since it is a private area. From the esplanade we can have an espectacular view of the Popocatepetl, one of the most beautiful volcanos on earth.

Since we will be the hosts, the Mexican stand will capt the attention of all the assistants. Food, candies, drinks, but most of all the color and the joy of Mexican culture will delight the senses of all delegates. Our main goal will be to spice up the WorldMUN spirit with the Latin soul, so the whole conference could be enriched with the culture of the Americas.

Noche Mexicana

Every september 15th we are proud to celebrate our independence, and the way we do it involves mariachis, charros, tacos, tequila, and of course a good supply of coronas. During the Noche Mexicana, we will try to recreate that celebration.
For the Mexican people the Independence day and the 5th of May are the most important festivities throughout the year. During the Noche Mexicana, we will try to recreate these great celebrations in a party where we’ll enjoy mariachi music with the best charros. While tasting Mexican food and Tequila, delegates will break real piñatas and will play traditional games.

We’ll have a great time riding the mechanical bulls and a fireworks spectacle will appear in the middle of the night. Finally, volunteers wearing typical dresses will offer the famous Poblano candies to all delegates.

Cabaret

Puebla has become an important site of international matters and it has gotten a particular diversity in cultural development without loosing its traditions and significance.
For this event, we have planned a modern cocktail night while the Folklorik Ballet of Puebla makes its performance. Then we will enjoy the participation of all delegates in several acts that will show us a little bit of every culture that meets in and exlclusive hall of the city.

After the performance platform, the dance floor will be full of lights and disco music creating a moment for dancing, meeting and integrating for delegates.
We believe in diversity, integration and cultural exchange that allows everyone to show their customs and know others, creating a bridge among each other that could last years.

Aztec Night

On Thursday WorldMUN will witness ancient Mexico at the Aztec night in the most beautiful Hacienda located near Atlixco village, 25 minutes from the historical downtown.
This hacienda is surrounded by colorful gardens and old ruins from the 19th century adapted to this exceptional ocassion.

With an amazing decoration of pyramids and ancient handcrafts, the participants will be pleased with a show of pre-Hispanic dancing and a performace full of fire and magic. Delegates will have the chance to interact with eagle and jaguar warriors in a mysterious atmosphere of changing lights and special effects.
Our main goal with this event is to familiarize the intenational community with the social customs of the Mexican ancient groups in order to revalue the culture that makes us proud.

Farewell Party - Carnaval

An amazing event like WoldMUN deserves an amazing ending party. The Latin flavor will spice the experience making the hearts beat to the rhythm of the Americas. We have prepared an interactive performance with professional dancers and the delegates.

Starting with Argentinian tango we will travel along to the Dominican Republic merengue, Panamanian reggaeton, Cuban mambo and Colombian and Venezuelan Salsa.

This musical banquet will bring everyone’s deep feelings and desires to the dance floor with the interaction of the latin flavor and international mood letting everybody to meet the latin that we all have in us.
